We promised you more info and we're staying true to that promise! So, let's get started.
Dancing Dervish Inc. is still a baby, but we're so excited about all of the things we've been working on and the way we're developing. We are a true indie (like, indie, indie) production company, founded and run by artists, with a simple goal: to create magic with whatever we have at our disposal.
As you can imagine, that is not an easy feat! Making movies is hella expensive! Would you believe that a "low-budget" short film falls into the up-to-$250,000 umbrella, under union contracts? Yep.
But that doesn't scare us. Not one bit. We're passionate about telling stories, and that's what we will continue to do. We're pulling our own funds and resources, and investing in ourselves to make films we can be proud of, as we work to reach the top of that hefty low-budget bracket.
We started off with Les Papiers Volants (Papers In The Wind), written, directed, and produced by Anne-Marie Agbodji, which premiered at the Paris Independent Film Festival, in Paris, France. The film is still on the festival circuit, so check back often for more.
Next, we got to work on Cupid Standoff, written and directed by Ajani Shakanova, starring Anne-Marie Agbodji. The film is entering the early phases of post-production, and we're loving what we see thus far! We'll tell you all about it in the coming months.
The DDI team is constantly at the drawing board, writing and developing new works in order to bring you stories that stop you in your tracks, take your breath away, and hopefully, make you question your convictions.
That is the beauty of filmmaking, and we're looking forward to having you join us on this journey.
